Primary Education
Primary education marks the start of the formal education in a child’s life and begins when a child turns to around 5 years of age. It is the first stage of compulsory education, preceded by pre-Jamia or nursery education and is followed by secondary education. The major goals of primary education are achieving basic literacy and numeracy amongst all pupils, as well as establishing foundations in Science, Mathematics, Geography, History, Urdu, English, Computer, Islamiyat and other social sciences. Education is the systematic process of instruction for the development of character and mental powers. The primary stage of education is of prime importance for the edifice of career. Dependability and tidiness of this stage enable a child to raise a standard of his personality.
Primary Education provides students with a basic understanding of various subjects as well as skills they will use throughout their lives. To ensure students receive a quality education, Jamia Muhammadia, offers teaching of several different subjects to its students so they are constantly engaged in learning. Jamia Muhammadia also teaches its students basic life skills like reading, writing, spelling, interpersonal communication and concentration. Jamia students also learn good study habits including:
- Managing their time
- rganizing necessary tools and materials
- Planning for short or long assignments
- Reviewing material for tests
Jamia Muhammadia fulfils the special needs of students during the first few years of their Jamia's life. Students are taught to think critically, to strive to attain high standards, to meet the challenges posed by technological advancements and to develop citizenship and basic ethical values. In order to achieve these goals, Jamia Muhammadia aims to provide an orderly and safe environment, where supervised learning can take place.
Yet another key competency provided by Jamia Muhammadia is socialization. The Jamia arranges co-curricular activities, such as, care and share day, funfairs, bake sales and various inter-class competitions.
The Jamia becomes the agency that first organizes social relationships, and the classroom becomes the place where children learn to socialize with their peers. The skills and values that primary education instils are no less than foundational, and serve as basis for all future learning-whether formal or informal.
Keeping in mind the entertainment for its students, the Jamia arranges field trips, in-house movie arrangement, quiz and skits; at the same time developing patriotic skills by celebrating national occasions and events such as Independence Day, Pakistan Day, Kashmir Day, and Language Day. At Jamia Muhammadia, children at an early age are taught charity and generosity by encouraging them to donate and raise funds for flood or earthquake victims.
The environmental factors to which students are exposed greatly influence their behaviour. When these practices are present in classrooms and Jamia, especially over multiple years, students are inspired to make positive health behaviour changes.
